Il TH ITALIA FC è riuscito ad intervistare, in esclusiva, la scrittrice Caroline Savaugeot sulla recente uscita del suo ultimo romanzo "The Forbidden Floor"!

Pam: Ciao Caroline, come stai? Come sta andando il lancio del tuo nuovo romanzo?
Caroline: Ciao, sto bene. Il libro è stato rilasciato appena 2 settimane fa ed ho già ricevuto messaggi da fan che mi dicono che hanno ordinato il libro o che mi chiedono dove trovarlo.
Inoltre ho ottenuto alcuni articoli ed altri nuovi arriveranno in Europa. E, naturalmente, gli Aliens sono sempre lì per spargere la voce e chi ha un sito web, pagina FB o blog sui TH inizia a fare o tradurre gli articoli.
Così sembra essere un buon inizio!
Pam: Come è nata l'idea di scrivere un libro ispirato al mondo della musica, a tutto quello che c'è dietro, un libro ispirato ai Tokio Hotel? Sei una loro fan?
Caroline: In primo luogo, ho avuto un' esperienza nel settore della musica nel 1989, quando ho registrato un "tour 45" (singolo in vinile?) con la mia scuola per l'anniversario dei 200 anni della Dichiarazione dei Diritti dell' Uomo. Abbiamo cantato "Liberty" e "Becoming a Citizen".
Avevo 11 anni ed ho scoperto che era davvero un lavoro noioso. Provare, cantare sempre le stesse frasi più e più volte, in modi diversi. Da solo, tutti insieme, con 2 ragazze, con un ragazzo e una ragazza ...
Fuori faceva caldo ed ancora di più in studio, dove le finestre non possono essere aperte o non è climatizzato. Ed ero totalmente stupita dal mixer e dai così tanti pulsanti e le cose da toccare e muovere. In quel momento ho capito che era davvero un duro lavoro e non una vita così facile come la gente immagina. Da allora sono sempre stata interessata a questo mondo. Volevo scrivere della vita della banda Arock per mostrare quanto lavoro ci sia, oltre ai bei momenti, naturalmente.
Non è mai stato pensato per essere un libro sui Tokio Hotel. Volevo solo invitarli come guest star nella mia storia nel citare la canzone "Stich Ins Glück".
Ero piuttosto una fan degli Aliens e volevo ispirarmi a loro per i fan della mia storia ... E più conoscevo i Tokio Hotel, più li apprezzavo. Ho trovato molti riferimenti letterari nella loro musica e molti altri riferimenti dei quali i media non parlano. Mi chiedo perchè nessun articolo parli della loro musica, la loro ispirazione, i loro messaggi... Poi sapete come si dice: " Lo scrittore scrive libri che desidererebbe leggere".
Dal momento che nes
suno sembra preoccuparsi di questo gruppo, della loro musica e dei loro incredibili fan , ho sentito che dovevo farlo io.
Volevo essere una parte della loro storia e mettere il mio mattone sul muro ^ ^
Ora possiamo dire che sono una fan. Credo che non si possa rimanere cinque anni nel "mondo TH" senza amare i fan e questi quattro ragazzi che sono veramente grandi persone e grandi artisti. Un giorno, il mondo lo saprà e spero di poter portare il mio piccolo aiuto.
Pam: Ho letto che hai parlato con alcuni esperti del settore musicale per ottenere informazioni più realistiche possibili, puoi parlarci delle persone che ti hanno aiutato?
Caroline: Ho parlato, contattato ed incontrato molte persone. Volevo dare una buona panoramica di quel mondo ed io, che avevo registrato un vinile e conoscevo alcune band, avevo bisogno di più informazioni. Quindi, per prima cosa, ho contattato lo staff dei Th della Universal Francese e di Berlino, per saperne di più riguardo alla casa discografica e tutti i differenti lavori. In quel momento era popolare MySpace e mi hanno aggiunto Sylvia ed il fan club di David Jost. Su Myspace ho aggiunto tutti gli artisti che lavoravano con David Jost e due di questi, di Amburgo, hanno aggiunto me (perché è così che lavorano le band e i giovani cantanti su Myspace). E’ difficile essere conosciuti. Erano Jan Sievers e Hickethier Neil e ho parlato molto con loro riguardo la Germania, Amburgo e il loro lavoro. E loro mi hanno fatto conoscere altre persone. Volevo anche conoscere meglio la scena Hip Hop ed in questo sono stata aiutata dal team di Samy Deluxe, poiché Jan lo conosceva. Samy aveva sostenuto il suo nuovo album! Quindi, Quincy e Ron mi hanno aiutato molto a conoscere meglio il mondo Hip Hop e ancora una volta ho avuto modo di conoscere altre persone.
Marco Terenzi, che è un vero e proprio artista in Germania, è stato così gentile da invitarmi nella sua “vita da rock star" ed ho scoperto nuove feste di Berlino ^ ^ Lì ho incontrato Alexander Van Hessen perché uno della sua agenzia ha organizzato la festa. Lo conoscevo da un po 'perché è il capo di “RockStar Model”, che fornisce i modelli per i video dei Tokio Hotel. Io già conoscevo Désirée Kaddatz, che ha girato 4 video ed è stata, fin dall’inizio, la ragazza sulle copertine di Forbidden Floor. Ed indovinate un po’? Al Vampire Party con Marco Terenzi, Desi lavorava come vampira per intrattenere la gente. A questo party ho incontrato un sacco di artisti tedeschi e sono rimasta stupita nel vedere quanto tutti lavorino. Corrono tra agenzie di modelle, riviste, agenzie di eventi. Ognuno ha 3 lavori. Lavorano davvero molto ogni giorno e ci riescono! Per esempio Desi ha iniziato come un modella in piccolo evento in Germania, ha lavorato nell’agenzia di Alex Van Hessen, ed ora è una modella internazionale che ha lavorato in Turchia, Messico, New York, Los Angeles…
Forse la migliore esperienza è stata quella che Norman mi ha offerto. E' il tecnico chitarrista di Tom e ha lavorato con i Nirvana, Nena, Nelly Furtado, alcuni altri e Patrice. Lui mi ha invitato ad uno spettacolo di Patrice in una grande location a Parigi, lo Zenith, ed hanno viaggiato con i vecchi tourbus dei Tokio Hotel, che sono stati prima di Nelly Furtado, è per questo che una volta Tom ha detto che la figlia di Nelly aveva scritto ovunque ed aveva fatto un pasticcio nel bus
E 'stato fantastico essere sul palco con la band, nella "backline". Ho ottenuto così tanti informazioni utili e pratiche che si conoscono solo se si lavora in tour con una band famosa. Ed ho trascorso un po' di tempo nei tourbus. Sono piccoli, è un inferno vivere là, ma è il sogno di tutti di andare in tour con un gruppo rock in uno spazio così piccolo haha!
Ma ho dimenticato un sacco di gente. Con alcuni mi sono scambiata e-mail solo per saperne di più riguardo il loro lavoro e con alcuni altri ci vado d'accordo e restiamo in contatto. Una menzione speciale va a Till Nowak, che è il grande stilista che ha fatto la copertina dell'album Humanoid. E 'stato inaspettato, ma ho imparato molto e tutto ciò che contribuirà a rendere il prossimo libro.

Queste persone mi hanno ispirato molto e non potrò mai ringraziarli abbastanza per tutto l'aiuto che mi hanno dato.
La musica tedesca, la moda e l'industria dell’intrattenimento sono un piccolo mondo e sono molto aperti nel condividere il loro lavoro con me. Quindi ringrazio tutti loro, ho avuto la possibilità di seguire le band dagli alberghi alle sedi, o dal palco al tourbus. Mi sentivo molto fortunata di far parte dei due mondi, dei fan e della band.
Pam: Hai viaggiato molto per capire le dinamiche dei concerti, del dopo concerto e per guardare le fan da vicino, cosa puoi raccontarci dei tuoi viaggi?
Caroline: Oh, mi sono confrontata con gli Aliens, non si può dire che ho viaggiato tanto. Sono andata a vedere i Tokio Hotel solo agli show di Parigi, in un'altra città in Francia, e al Fans Party di Amburgo.
Per lo show, ogni volta sono in fila per avere una breve descrizione del palco ed i fan. Ed osservo tutto, il più che posso. Le luci, gli effetti, gli schermi, il personale e, naturalmente, i fan.
E’ incredibile vedere nello stesso posto, migliaia di persone che sicuramente non hanno una vita facile, alcuni addirittura hanno una vita molto dura, tutti insieme. Loro vivono la stessa esperienza, ed ogni volta, ogni persona si sente diverso. Ogni fan ha la sua storia con i Tokio Hotel, il suo modo di sentire una canzone come se fosse scritta solo per lui. Ma quello che è sicuro, è che tutti sono contenti. E poi immaginate come la Band può essere orgogliosa. E’ un grande lavoro solo essere in grado di intrattenere migliaia di persone, e renderle felici. Farle gridare, ridere, piangere. Si tratta di emozioni vere e quando una Band può fare una cosa del genere, dobbiamo veramente rispettarlo. Mi sembra che offrano una pausa dalla nostra realtà difficile alle persone che ne hanno maggiormente bisogno. Me ne accorgo anche durante le apparizioni o promozioni. Anche se la band si mostra per 5 minuti quando lasciano l'albergo, fa alcuni fan felici, questo è il lato buono di questo lavoro. Chi altro, se non gli artisti, possono diffondere il sogno, l'amore, o la felicità? ^ ^
Pam: Le illustrazioni del tuo libro sono state disegnate da Lykaan ed Allegator, due grandissimi artisti del disegno, come è nata la vostra collaborazione?
Caroline: Ho contattato Lykan e gli ho chiesto se poteva fare qualcosa per me, ma non ho avuto nessuna notizia. Un giorno tornò da me e mi disse che poteva fare diverse illustrazioni per il mio libro.
Più tardi sulla BTK App, ho parlato in chat con alcuni Aliens ed ho detto loro che volevo fare un libro illustrato ma che, purtroppo, non trovavo un illustratore per fare molti di disegni. Un giorno il mio editore mi ha chiesto se conoscevo Lykan, perché gli aveva mandato delle illustrazioni ed erano ok. Così, naturalmente, sono stata troppo contenta e mi ha contattata! Attualmente Allegator ha fatto molti disegni e ciascuno di loro ha lavorato così veloce da offrire ai lettori bellissimi disegni dei personaggi.
Pam: Nel romanzo, descrivi una generazione che sta male e che prova a fuggire lontano da questa società infelice dove niente va bene e dove tutti si giudicano a vicenda... Secondo te, come si potrebbe iniziare a far cambiare tutto questo?
Caroline: E’ una domanda difficile. Si potrebbe iniziare a cambiare se la gente iniziasse ad avere più fiducia ed essere felice. Il segreto è anche il vivere il momento presente. Basta vivere, e vedere, e godere di ciò che si fa. Non c'è bisogno di giudicare ciò che si vede o che non si vede. Se si parla con qualcuno e non sei d'accordo, puoi solo dire che hai un altro punto di vista e questo è ok. Penso che abbiamo anche bisogno di amore.
Ma nel nostro mondo, governato dal potere e dal denaro, è difficile essere in pace e pienamente felice ...
Pam: Hai scritto anche "DANS TON OMBRE JE PEUX BRILLER ", questo romanzo parla della vita di una rock band e il suo rapporto speciale con i fan. Si viaggia da una stanza di lusso a dietro le quinte di uno show, o in attesa sotto la pioggia fuori da un hotel per aspettare un solo autografo. Ma più che un libro sul mondo della spettacolo, questo vuole educare i lettori sull'importanza del sesso sicuro e vuole includere la sessualità tra i giovani come qualcosa di naturale. E' stato difficile per te esprimere questo concetto nel romanzo?
Caroline: No, non è stato difficile, è venuto naturale e non ho voluto dare lezione ai ragazzi o agli altri lettori. E' stato inaspettato che qualche fondazione sull'AIDS, come Designers Against AIDS o Love Rocks, mi abbiano sostenuta. Per me, era solo ovvio dire che i miei personaggi facevano sesso sicuro ...
Pam: Apriamo anche una piccola parentesi su "Presence", questo libro, al contrario degli altri, parla direttamente dei Tokio Hotel e di una giornalista...
Caroline: Sì. E 'un vecchio romanzo che ho scritto nel 2004/2005 ed avevo bisogno di aggiornarlo. Ed è evidente ancora una volta che i Tokio Hotel sono stato una parte di esso ^ ^
Pam: Per ora possiamo trovare "The Forbidden Floor" solo in francese ed in inglese, sarà possibile in fututo che arrivi anche ad essere tradotto in italiano?
Caroline: Certo. “The Forbidden Floor” è una grande avventura tra gli Aliens, per cui alcune traduzioni sono state effettuate dai fan come l'inglese, il russo o spagnolo. Quindi, se qualcuno può fare una traduzione, siamo in grado di rilasciare rapidamente un ebook o vendere via internet una versione cartacea.
Ma la cosa migliore sarebbe che un editore italiano volesse pubblicarlo nella vostra lingua e poi sarà in vendita in Italia. Non venduto solo via internet. Ed è lo stesso con tutti gli altri paesi. E 'stato il caso di Dorotea, la tua fan italiana che ha scritto "Destinazione Tokio Hotel". In primo luogo il libro è stato pubblicato in Italia, poi un editore francese ha deciso di pubblicarlo e lo abbiamo ottenuto nelle librerie in Francia.
Pam: Ti aspetti una determinata reazione dai fan? Credi che capiranno il messaggio che vuoi comunicare con il romanzo?
Caroline: Mi aspetto che siano sorpresi, ma so anche che alcuni fan non immaginano che tutto ciò che scrivo è vero, la storia per esempio, perché sono utilizzate le fanfiction dove si può scrivere tutto ciò che si vuole, qualunque cosa anche se non misura la realtà. Ma nel mio romanzo, tutto quello che ho scritto sulla storia è vero. Per esempio, il nostro marchese de Lafayette, ha davvero avuto qualche brutta avventura a Magdeburg ...
Pam: Hai mai avuto modo di incontrare i Tokio Hotel? Vorresti consegnargli di persona una copia del tuo libro?
Caroline: No nonli mai incontrati, ma a volte sono stata intorno gli alberghi. E' stato abbastanza piacevole vederli. Quando sono così vicino a loro, è perché io sono una scrittrice che ha qualcosa da fare qui, quindi so che se mi comporto come un fan, non sarò presa sul serio da quel momento.
Quando avrò il libro cartaceo in inglese gli invierò una copia, ma non mi interessa darlo a loro di persona. L'importante è riuscirci. Ma penso anche che non leggano 400 pagine in inglese ^ ^ Penso che non gli piaccia leggere.
Pam: Te hai 34 anni, la sottoscritta ne ha 30 e due figli, ma i Tokio Hotel accomunano fan di ogni età, secondo te esiste un'età massima per seguire un gruppo come i Tokio Hotel?
Caroline: No, i Tokio Hotel fanno in modo che tutti possano ascoltare la loro musica. Penso che questa questione valga solo per i Tokio Hotel e la gente disturba i loro fan con questo. Ma io sono fan di Bob Dylan e nessuno mi dice che sono troppo giovane per ascoltarlo. Se la gente sapesse davvero che cosa i Tokio Hotel nascondono nella loro musica, non direbbero alcuni fan sono troppo giovani per capirne il significato. Ma le persone che parlano così sono strane. La musica è la musica e siamo in grado di amarla per molte ragioni.
Anche i Tokio Hotel, Bill e Tom, sono molto creativi lavorano anche nella moda, i film o l'arte. Così alcune persone possono fare i modelli come Bill per esempio. Ad alcune persone conosco personalmente non piace la loro musica, ma piace le persone che sono.
Quindi è davvero difficile dire se c'è un età o una parte della popolazione che sia adatta ad una musica. Da quello che vedo, i Tokio Hotel catturano l'attenzione delle persone che ne hanno bisogno ^ ^
Pam: Hai uno scrittore a cui ti ispiri ed un libro preferito da consigliarci?
Caroline: Mi piacciono molti autori, come Kerouac, Hemingway, Tennessee, Jules Vernes, Balzac ... Ci fanno viaggiare attraverso diversi paesi ed il tempo.
Mi piace la letteratura vi consiglio la lettura dei libri che ho citato in "The Forbidden Floor": "1984" di Orwell, "Brave New World" di Huxley ed i libri di Philip K "Blade Runner" Dick e "The Master of the High Castel".
Questa estate ho scoperto Erich Von Däniken, perché Tom ne ha parlato nella BTK App, e consiglio a tutti gli Alieni di leggerlo. Quello che dice è sorprendente. Non sapevo tutto ciò che sulle antiche civiltà e questo è davvero interessante. Ho letto "Chariot of Gods", e ho comprato tutti gli altri suoi romanzi. Voglio leggerli il più presto possibile.
Pam: Caroline, grazie mille per il tempo e l'intervista concessa al TH ITALIA FC, ti auguriamo un grosso in bocca al lupo per "The Forbidden Floor", sono sicura che sentiremo molto parlare di te!
Caroline: Grazie a voi, ed a tutti gli Aliens che sostengono questo progetto fin dall'inizio, ed ora, eccoci qui! Vediamo fino a che punto possiamo arrivare. E' il primo volume della nostra storia e gli Aliens meritano di essere nella storia tanto quanto la Band.
Se posso, vorrei usare l'intervista per fare un annuncio: sto scrivendo di alcuni veri fan, e se anche voi italiani volete mandarmi la vostra storia, la vostra avventura con i Tokio Hotel-buona o cattiva, sarò felice di leggerla ed imparare meglio l'italiano per il prossimo libro sui fan. Interview pour le FC italien:
The TH ITALY FC has managed to interview, exclusively, the writer Caroline Savaugeot on the recent release of her latest novel "The Forbidden Floor"!
Pam: Hello Caroline, How're you? How's going on the launch of your novel?
Caroline: Hello, I'm fine. The book was just released 2 weeks ago and I already got messages from fans who tell me they ordered the book or who ask me where to find it.
Also I got some articles and some new to come in Europa. And of course, the Aliens are always there to spread the word and the one who got a website, FB page or blog about TH start to make or translate articles.
So it seems to be a good start !
Pam: How did the idea to write a book inspired by the world of music, all that is behind it, a book inspired by Tokio Hotel? Are you a fan of the group or not?
Caroline: First, I got an experience in the music industry in 1989, when I recorded a "45 tour" (single vinyl ?) with my school for the anniversary of 200 years of the Declaration of the Men's Rights. We sang "Liberty" and "Becoming a Citizen". I was 11 and I discover it was really a borring work. Rehearsing, always singing the same sentences again and again, in different ways. Alone, all together, with 2 girls, with a boy and a girl... It was hot outside and more again in the studio where no windows can be open or no clim was alowed. And I was totaly amazed by the mixing table so so much buttons and things to touch and move. That's when I realize it was really a hard work and not a so easy life as people imagine. Since then I was always interesting into this world. I wanted to write about nthe life of arock band to show how much work it is, beside some good time of course.
It was never meant to be a book about Tokio Hotel. I wanted just to invite them as guest star in my story to mention the song "Stich Ins Glück". I was rather a fan of the Aliens and wanted to inspired of them for the fans in my story... And them, the better I knewTokio Hotel, the better I appreciated them. I found a lot of litterature reference in their music, and many other reference that no medias talked about. I wander why no articles talked about their music, their inspiration, their messages... Then, you know maybe what we say :"writer writes the books they would like to read". Since no one seems to care about this band and their music, as well as about their amazing fans, I felt I had to do it. I wanted to be a part of their storyand put my brick on the wall ^^
Now we can say I'm a fan. I think we can't stay 5 years into the "TH World" without loving the fans and these four boys who are really great persons and great artists. Someday, the world will know it, and I hope I can bring my little help.
Pam: I read that you talked to someone who is an experts of the music industry to get more realistic the novel, can I talk to them?
Caroline: I talked, contacted and meet a lot of people. I really wanted to give a good view of this world and myself, I just recorded a vinyl and I knew some bands, but I need to know more. So first I contacted the TH Staff of Universal France and Berlin to know more about the record compagny, all the differents jobs. And at this time, MySpace was popular and Sylvia from David Jost Fan Club added me. On the Myspace, she added all the artists who worked with David Jost, and 2 of these artists, from Hamburg, added me - because that's how bands and young singers works on MySpace. It's hard to be known. It was Jan Sievers and Neil Hickethier, and I talked a lot with them about Germany, Hamburg and their work. And they let me know some other people. I also wanted to know more about the Hip Hop and I was helped by the team of Samy Deluxe - because Jan knew him. Sammy supported his new album ! So Quincy and Ron helped me a lot to know more about their Hip Hop world, and again I got to know other people. Mark Terenzi, who is a real entertainer in Germany, was so nice to invite me "in his rock star" life and I discover the Berlin parties ^^ There I met Alexander Van Hessen because one of his agency organized the party. I knew him since a while because he's the boss of RockStar Models, who bring the models for Tokio Hotel's video. And I knew Désirée Kaddatz, who played in 4 vidéos and who was from the very start, the girl on the covers of the Forbidden Floor. And guess what ? At the Vampire Party with Marc Terenzi, Dési worked as a vampire to entertain the people. At this party I met a lot of german artist and I was amazed to seehow much they all work. They run model agencies, magazines, event agency. One person got 3 jobs. They really work a lot and someday, they succeed ! For exemple Dési start as a model in small event in Germany, she help for the administrative partat Alex Van Hessen agencies, and now she's an international model who worked in Turkey, Mexico, New York, LA... Maybe the best experience was the one Norman offered me. He's Tom's guitarist technician and he worked with Nirvana, Nena, Nelly Furtado, some others, an Patrice. And he invited me to Patrice's show in a big venue in Paris, the Zenith, and they travelled with the old Tokio Hotel tourbusses - that were before Nelly Furtado busses, that's why once Tom saud the daughter of Nelly wrote everywhere and made a mess of the bus ; ) It was amazing to be on stage with the band, in "backline". I got so many useful practicalinfo that you only know if you work on tour with a famous band. And I spend a while in the tourbus. It's small, that's a hell to live in there, but everybody dream to go in tour with a rock band in this small area haha ! But I forgot a lot of people. With some I got just few email to know more their job and with some other we get along well and we stay in contact. I should mention Till Nowak, who is the great designer who made the cover of Humanoid album. He was unexpected but I learned a lot and all that will help to make the next book.
Those people inspired me a lot and I can never thank them enough for all the help they gave me. Germany music, fashion and entertainement industry is a small world and they are really open to share they work with me. So thanks to all of them, you'll have the feeling to follow the band from the hotels to the venues, or from the stage to the tourbus. I felt really lucky to be a part of the two worlds, the fans and the band.
Pam: You traveled a lot to understand the dynamics of the concert, what happens after the show and to watch up close the fans, what do you can tell us about your travels ?
Caroline: Oh, compare to the Aliens, we can't say I traveled so much. I only went to see Tokio Hotel for the Paris shows, another city in France, and the Fan Party in Hamburg.
For the show, each time I'm on the last row to have a over-view on the stage and the fans. And I observe everything, the more that I can. The lights, the effects, the screens, the staff and of course the fans.
That's amazing to see in a same venue, thousand people who surely not have an easy life, some even have a very hard life, and they are all together now. They live the same experience, and at the sametime, each person feels different. Each fan got his own story with Tokio Hotel, his own way to feel a song is just written for him. But what is sure, is that everybody is happy. And then I imagine how proud the band can be. It's just a great job to be able to entertain thousant people, and make them happy. Make them scream, laught, cry. It's real emotions and when a band can do such a thing, we really have to respect him. It seems to me they offert a break from our hard reality to each people who need it the most. And I observe that for the promo/appearences too. Even if the band shows for 5 mn when they leave the hotel, it makes some fans happy, so that's the good side of this job. Who else, behin artists, can spread dream, love, or happynes ? ^^
Pam: The illustrations in your book were designed by Lykaan and Allegator, two great artists of the design, how did born your collaboration?
Caroline: I contacted Lykan to asked if she could make something for me, then I didn't got news. And someday she came back to me and said she can make several illustrations for my book.
And later on BTK Application, I talked on the chat with some Aliens and told them I wanted to make an illustrated book but unfortunately, I found no illustrator to make a lot of drawings. And someday my publisher asked me if I knew Lykan, because she emailed them to offert illustrations and they were ok. So of course I was ok too and I contacted her ! And actualy Allegator made some more drawings and both of them worked so fast to offer to the readers beautiful drawings of the characters.
Pam: The novel describes a generation that It is sick and that It is trying to run away from this unhappy society where nothing goes well and where all are judged each other ... In your opinion, how could begin to change all that ?
Caroline: It's a hard question. It could start to change if people started to got more confidence and be happy. May the secret is also the live the present moment. Just live, and see, and enjoy what you do. No need to judge what you see or who you see. If you talk with someone and you're not agree, you can just say you have another point of view and that's ok. I think we also need love.
But in our world, ruled by power and money, it's hard to be peaceful and fully happy...
Pam: The Forbidden Floor talks about the life of a rock band and its special relationship with the fans. You are traveling in a luxury room behind the scenes of a show, or waiting in the rain outside a hotel to wait for a single autograph. But more than a book about the world of entertainment, this is intended to educate readers about the importance of safe sex and wants to include sexuality among young people as something natural. Was it difficult for you to express this concept in the novel ?
Caroline: No it wasn't difficult, it came naturaly and I didn't wanted to give lesson to the teens or any readers. It was unexpected that some AIDS foundation like Designers Agains AIDS or Love Rocks supported me. To me, it was just obvious to say my characters have safe sex...
Pam: We open a small parenthesis on "Presence", this book, unlike the others, speaks directly to Tokio Hotel and a rock singer...
Caroline: Yes. It's an old novel that I write in 2004/2005 and I needed to update it. And it was obvious again that Tokio Hotel was a part of it ^^
Pam: For now we can find "The Forbidden Floor" in French and in English, it will be possible in the future that also come to be translated into Italian ?
Caroline: Of course. The Forbidden Floor is a great adventure between the Aliens, so some translations were made by fans like the english, russian or spanish. So if someone can make a translation, we can release very quickly a ebook or sell by internet a paper version.
But the best is that an italian publisher makes a deall to publish it in italian and then it will be in store in Italy. Not only sold by internet. And it's the same with all the other countries. It was the case of Dorotea, your italian fan who wrote "Tokio Hotel Forever". First the book was published in Italy, then a french publisher publish it and we got it in bookstores in France
Pam: Do you expect a certain reaction from fans? Do you think they'll understand the message you want to communicate with the novel?
Caroline: I expect them to be surprised but I know also that some fans don't imagine that everything that I write is true, about History for exemple, because they are used to fanfiction where they can write anything they want, whatever if it doesn't fit the reality. But in my novel, everything I'm write is true about History. So for exemple, our Marquis de LaFayette really had some bad adventure in Magdeburg...
Pam: Have you ever had the opportunity to meet Tokio Hotel? Do you want to deliver in person a copy of your book?
Caroline: No I never really met them but sometimes they were aroundin the hotels. So It was nice enough to see them. When I'm so close to them, it's because I'm a writer who have something to do here, so I know if I act like a fan, I won't be taken seriously after that moment.
When I'll have the english paper book I'll send them a copy but I don't care to give them in person. The important is that they got it. But I also think they won't read 400 pages in english ^^ I think they don't like reading.
Pam: You're 34, I'm 30 and I've two children but the fandom of TH is composed by fans of all ages, do you think there is a maximum age to follow a band like Tokio Hotel?
Caroline: No, Tokio Hotel is music so everybody can listen to music. I think this question aply only to Tokio Hotel and people bother their fanswith that. But i'm fan of Bob Dylan anf no one tell me I'm too young to listen to him.
If peoplereally know what Tokio Hotel hide in their music, they rather say some fans are too young to understand the meaning. But people who talk like thatare weird. Music is music and we can love for many reason.
Also in Tokio Hotel, Bill and Tom are very creative and also work in fashion, movies or art. So some people can just like Bill as a model for exemple. Some people who know them personaly don't like their music but like the person they are.
So it's really hard to say if there's an age or a part of the population who fit to one music. From what I see, Tokio Hotel catches the attention of the people who need them ^^
Pam: Do you have a writer who inspires you and a favorite book advise?
Caroline: I like many authors, like Kerouac, Hemingway, Tennessee, Jules Vernes, Balzac... They make us traveling through different countries or time.
I like the dystopie litterature and I would advice the reading to read those books that I mention in the Forbidden Floor : "1984" from Orwell,"Brave New World" from Huxley and the books of Phillip K Dick "Blade Runner" and "The Master of the High Castel".
This summer I discover Erich Von Däniken because Tom talked about it on BTK Application, and I really advice all the Aliens to read it. What he says is amazing. I didn't know all that about the ancien civilisations and that's really interesting. I read Chariot of Gods, and I bought all his other novels. I want to read them as soon as possible.

Caroline: Thanks to you, and all the Aliens who support this project from the start, and now, here we are ! Let's see how far we can go. It's the first tome of our story and the Aliens deserve to be in History as much as the band.
